Tornado Emergency!
March 15, 2025 – The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for several countries in the Midwest as the storm is expected to pass through several counties. People in the affected areas are urged to immediately move to a safe place and take shelter.

Why is the tornado threat increasing?
According to the weather department, a whistling storm front has developed a strong rotation, due to which the risk of tornado formation has increased significantly. Doppler radar has detected potential tornado activity in several locations, due to which the NWS has issued a warning for the countries of Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

Highest Risk Areas
The tornado warning includes major cities like Wichita, Joplin, and Tulsa. More areas could be added to the warning area as the storm progresses. The NWS is also closely monitoring severe tornadic activity, which could bring damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall.
What to do if you are in the warning area
Officials recommend residents take the following precautions:
Seek immediate shelter in a basement, storm cellar, or interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
Keep windows and doors closed and away from the ground to reduce the risk of injury from flying debris.
Stay alert and listen to weather alerts on NOAA Weather Radio, TV, or smartphone apps for real-time updates.
Keep an emergency kit ready at your home, including flashlights, batteries, food, water, and important documents.

Tornado Impact and Emergency Response
Local emergency management agencies have activated their response teams in preparation for potential damage and rescue. Downed trees and debris are likely to cause power outages and road closures in some areas. The Red Cross has set up emergency shelters for displaced residents.
Tornado and Safety Tips
If you are stranded outside during a tornado warning:
Try to get into a sturdy building as quickly as possible.
If you are in a vehicle, do not try to outrun the tornado.
At all costs, seek shelter in a low-lying area, such as a ditch.
Mobile homes are not safe during a tornado. Seek safer shelter immediately.
