Importance of Mahakumbh of Prayagraj
Before Mahakumbh was organized in Prayagraj, i.e. 12 years ago, Mahakumbh was organized in Haridwar. For this reason people have great faith in Mahakumbh. Mahakumbh is the biggest religious and cultural ritual of the country, it is held every 12 years only at 4 places in the country – Prayagraj, Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik. Haridwar, Ujjain and Nashik have only one river each, whereas Prayagraj has the confluence of three rivers, hence Prayagraj has been given a high place among other pilgrimages. There is Ganga River in Haridwar, Kshipra River in Ujjain and Godavari River in Nashik, while Prayagraj is the confluence of all three rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Due to this, the importance of bathing increases in Mahakumbh.
What are the correct rules for bathing?
If you are going to take bath in Mahakumbh, then definitely keep some rules in mind, otherwise you will not be able to get the results of bathing in Mahakumbh.
- If you have reached Mahakumbh on the day of Shahi Snan, then remember that Naga Sadhus have the right to take the first bath here, so do not take bath before them even by mistake.
- After the sadhus, you can take bath, then after bathing you should offer water to the Sun God. By doing this you get virtuous results.
- While taking bath, keep in mind that if you are a family member then you should not take a dip as per your wish. According to the scriptures, it is mandatory for married people to take a dip 5 times.
- After this, you must donate the things taken from home (grains, clothes etc.) to the poor and needy.
What fruit do you get?
The day of the royal bath in the Mahakumbh of Prayagraj has special significance, but even if you have gone on normal days, its importance does not diminish. It is said that if you reach Mahakumbh even once in your life and take bath, then your sins of this birth as well as those of your previous birth are washed away. Apart from this, the souls of your ancestors also attain peace and salvation.
